1. A method for implementing parental controls, the method comprising:
retrieving a first criterion for a first program type; retrieving a second criterion for a second program type; detecting a media asset being consumed by a first user; comparing the media asset to the first criterion and the second criterion; in response to determining that the media asset corresponds to the first criterion, adding a time value corresponding to a play length of the media asset to a first counter amount, wherein the first counter amount indicates a total amount of time the first user consumed media assets of the first program type; retrieving a second counter amount from memory, wherein the second counter amount indicates a total amount of time the first user consumed media assets of the second program type; and generating for display a statistical analysis of a relationship between the first counter amount and the second counter amount.
