DETECTION OF WATER DROPLETS ON A VEHICLE CAMERA LENS

A method and device for detecting droplets on a lens of a ve- hicle camera. Image data with image frames is received from a vehicle camera. A synthetic droplet image is obtained by re- ducing an image frame to a predetermined size of a droplet and by rotating the reduced size image. A similarity is determined between the synthetic droplet image and a detection portion of the image frame at a pre-determined position, and a droplet is detected if the similarity exceeds a predetermined threshold.
