摘要 According to the present invention, there is provided an accessibility switch (1, 1000) to assist in augmentative and alternative communication by users with disabilities or impairments by providing feedback. The accessibility switch comprises an activation element (10, 1010), a base (2, 1012) and a force sensor (16) configured to monitor a force between the activation element and the base, wherein the accessibility switch is configured to detect a change in force monitored by the force sensor to a sensitivity of 25.0 grammes force or less. The accessibility switch is configured to change between a first state and a second state in response to detection of a change in force monitored by the force sensor of a magnitude greater than or equal to the sensitivity of the accessibility switch, and the accessibility switch further comprises a feedback unit (18) configured to provide sensory feedback when the accessibility switch changes between the first state and the second state. The accessibility switch is intended for use by disabled or impaired users and is highly sensitive to make it reliable and allow it to be used in a wide range of applications to which the functionality can be tailored due to high sensitivity.
