Provided are a sound collecting apparatus, a sound collecting method, and a program that reduce the difficulty of speaking for a user. A sound collecting apparatus according to an embodiment is provided with: an estimation unit, a determination unit, a sound processing unit, and an alleviation unit. The estimation unit estimates, on the basis of sound input by means of a plurality of microphones, a sound direction indicating the direction from which the sound comes. The determination unit determines whether the sound direction is the direction from the user. The sound processing unit subjects a sound signal based on the sound to predetermined sound processing. If the determination unit has determined that the sound direction is the direction from the user, the alleviation unit alleviates the impact of an output delay of the sound signal due to the sound processing. |
