A quick-release digit tourniquet (100) having first and second portions (104, 106) of a main body (102) which are engageable for the formation of a loop around a digit of a patient. The first and second portions 104, 106 are interposed by a release element (108) having weakened areas (120), hereby release perforations (122), which may be broken or ruptured by the manual application of a force by a user. In particular, the force may be applied to a tab (126) forming part of the release element (108), simplifying application. Once ruptured, the main body (102) is split into multiple parts and the quick-release digit tourniquet (100) is released from the patient. Also disclosed is a tourniquet strip comprising a plurality of quick-release digit tourniquets and a method of releasing such a quick-release digit tourniquet. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a load-limiting tourniquet and a method of preventing over-tightening of a tourniquet. |
