This blade driving device is provided with an opening formation member for forming an opening that allows light to pass through, and a plurality of blade groups provided annularly to rotate about the opening being created by the opening formation member. The plurality of blade groups includes a first blade group and a second blade group. When the blade driving device transitions from a first optically-transmissive circular opening formed by the first blade group to a second optically-transmissive circular opening formed by the second blade group, the first blade group remains adjacent to the second blade group after forming the first optically-transmissive circular opening. Thereby, the first blade group works inside the second blade group to substantially prevent the second blade group that forms the second optically-transmissive circular opening from warping upward in the optical axis direction.
