The invention relates to the oil and gas industry, primarily to downhole geophysical instruments. The technical result of the invention is an increase in the operating reliability of a downhole source of plasma-impulse action. The downhole source of plasma-impulse action comprises a housing containing a control module connected to an electrical energy accumulator and a plasma emitter connected to a metallic conductor feed mechanism. Furthermore, an electromechanical contact-maker and spark gap, comprising a movable contact and an immovable contact, is mounted between the electrical energy accumulator and the plasma emitter. Furthermore, the immovable contact is connected to a high-voltage positive busbar of the electrical energy accumulator, and the movable contact is connected with the aid of a flexible insulated conductor to a high-voltage electrode of the plasma emitter.
