Provided are a liquid crystal display device and a method for driving same whereby bias in polarity can be prevented while consumed power is kept low. Provided is a liquid crystal display device (100) wherein, if, for example, five forced refreshes are performed, then a Y-frame, which is a certain period of time, is set, and a specific refresh by which polarity is not inverted is performed when the incidence rate of limit refreshes in that period of time exceeds a predetermined threshold value. Due to this configuration, a polarity bias count value Nb approaches "0", and therefore it is no longer necessary to perform a limit refresh and the number of refreshes is reduced. Consequently, the total consumed power from refreshes in a limit refresh period T3 can be reduced as compared to the prior art. |
