[Class 69 (iii).] A self-dosing rotary sewage distributer of the Barker's mill type is provided with automatic means incorporated in the sprinkler for starting and stopping the siphon connected with the dosing tank. 'Fig. 1 shows a form of apparatus comprising a tank b, to which distributer arms c are attached, mounted to rotate around a standard a. The siphon comprises pipes h, forming the long leg of the siphon, extending into the tank b so that they are always covered with liquid, the short leg being formed by the conduit extending into the dosing chamber. The standard is closed by a diaphragm a<1> and has communicating with it an air pipe j, j<1>, the leg j of which is shorter than the leg j<1>, and a second pipe k, the lower end of which is provided with an inverted U-trap k<2>. Liquid from the dosing chamber rises freely in the standard until the end of the pipe is covered, after which air will be compressed until the pressure is sufficient to blow the seal k<1>. Water will now rush up the tube and start the siphon, which will continue in action until the dosing chamber is exhausted. The arms c are provided with hoods l which in conjunction with the bulbous shaped nozzles m, Fig. 4, act as siphons, so that the arms run full until siphonic action is broken. Liquid impinges on reaction and diffusing plates m<1>. The tube j<1> may be adjustable so that the apparatus starts at different heads. By having two such distributers having pipes j<1> at different levels they may be arranged to work in succession from a common dosing chamber. Fig. 6 shows a form of apparatus in which a dosing chamber n to which liquid is continuously fed through the standard a and spouts a<3> is mounted on the sprinkler. The tank b is mounted beneath the dosing chamber and supports a siphon formed by an annular bell o and inner tube p. An air pipe j, j<1> and trapped pipe k<2> operate in the same manner as the corresponding pipes in Fig. 1. An air escape pipe q is provided communicating with the tank b and rising to a level higher than the maximum liquid level in the dosing tank.</p>
