A concentrate of vitamines is prepared by the saponification of train oil and removal of the soaps.ALSO:A process for the manufacture of fodder products for calves and pigs comprises the subdivision into particles of diameter less than one five-thousandth of a centimetre of a quantity of vitamine-containing fatty substances not exceeding the upper limit of assimilation and the homogenization thereof with protein substances and easily digestible carbohydrates such as the dextrins, invert sugar, glucose or maltose in such quantity that the carbohydrates are not in excess of the upper limit of assimilation. For use, the products are dissolved in water or in skimmed milk. The fatty substances should be practically free from fatty acids and may have concentrates of vitamines, prepared for example by the saponification of train oil with removal of the soaps, added thereto. Earthnut oil and soya oil with addition of concentrate of A and D vitamins or refined cod liver oil may be used. The upper limit of assimilation for various animals is determined experimentally by the mixture with the fodder of chromic oxide and examination of the f cal secretions. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that train oil free from indigestible impurities, casein and protein substances decomposed by fermentation or by treatment with acids or bases may be used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
