[Problem] The present invention relates to a structure for moving a cutting tool toward the axial center of a pipe such as a steel pipe so as to make a hole in the pipe and revolving the cutting tool along the outer peripheral wall of the pipe so as to cut the pipe. [Solution] The pipe cutting apparatus has, fixed to a rotary device or a cutting device, a sliding part which slides along a guide rail of a revolving guide part fixed to a steel pipe in order to guide the revolution of the rotary device and cutting device. The pipe cutting apparatus is characterized in that the rotary device is provided with chains placed around the outer peripheral wall of the pipe, sprockets which engage with the chains, a rotary shaft for rotational driving of the sprockets, and hoist shafts for moving the rotary shaft in a chain-tensioning direction, and the rotary device is caused to revolve in line with the chains along the outer peripheral wall of the pipe while the chains are in a tightened state. |
