PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a sidewall capable of improving low fuel consumption property, fracture strength, flex crack resistance, steering stability and processability in a good balance and to provide a pneumatic tire having a sidewall prepared using the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a rubber composition for a sidewall which comprises a rubber component and silica, where the content of a conjugated diene-based polymer which is obtained by reacting an alkoxysilane compound with one terminal of a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of a monomer based on a conjugated diene, a monomer based on a compound represented by the following formula (1) and a monomer based on a compound represented by the following formula (2) is 5 mass% or more in 100 mass% of the rubber component and the content of the silica is 5 to 150 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component.
