PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a modified carbon black capable of providing the modified carbon black as a filler capable of improving low heat generation property of a rubber composition more efficiently.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a modified carbon black includes a process of forming a polymer component by polymerizing at least one kind of a conjugated diene compound and an unconjugated olefin in the presence of a polymerization catalyst composition containing a first element which is a rare earth element-containing compound and contains a rare earth element compound and a reactant of the rare earth element compound and a Lewis base, a second element containing a compound represented by the general formula (X) and a third element containing a carbon black and having a water content of 0.01 mass% or more, and a blending weight of the carbon black is higher than the blending weight of the monomer.
