PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper which accurately generates a desired brake torque for an applied rotational force.SOLUTION: A rotary damper generates a strong brake torque for a rotational force applied by restricting movement of viscous fluid 13 filled into a cylindrical chamber 111. Lip seals 16a, 16b which come into contact with a back surface 142 of a cover 14 when a rotor 12 rotates in the normal rotation direction relatively with respect to the cylindrical chamber 111, and is separated from the back surface 142 of the cover 14 when the rotor 12 rotates in the inversion direction relatively with respect to a case 11 are attached to vanes 124a, 124b. Further, check valves 15a, 15b with the lip seals which come into contact with the back surface 142 of the cover 14 when the rotor 12 rotates in the normal rotation direction relatively with respect to the case 11, and is separated from the back surface 142 of the cover 14 when the rotor 12 rotates in the inversion direction relatively with respect to the cylindrical chamber 111 are freely slidably stored into channels 215a, 215b formed on partitions 115a, 115b of the cylindrical chamber 111. |
