PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately sense various postures of an occupant (state of an occupant) such as a driver of a two-wheeled vehicle.SOLUTION: In an occupant state sensing system 10 adapted to a motorcycle, an originator 92a of an ultrasonic sensor 92 originates ultrasonic waves 94 to above a seat. A receiver 92b receives as reflected waves 96 ultrasonic waves 94 reflected from a driver 78 lying around the seat. A reflection time calculation unit 152 calculates a reflection time of the ultrasonic waves 94 on the basis of the waveform of a reflection signal dependent on the reflected waves 96. An occupant position estimation unit 154 estimates the position of the driver 78 on the basis of the calculated reflection time. An occupant state discrimination unit 156 discriminates the state of the driver 78 on the basis of the estimated position of the driver 78. |
