Method for electronic processing of a traffic offence and onboard unit for the same

The method involves sending a traffic offense message from a beacon (32) to a transceiver of an on-board unit (5). A user selection concerning two options is accepted via an input device of the on-board unit. The traffic offense message is sent from the on-board unit to a remote central station, if the users selection indicates one option. A debit transaction relating to the traffic offense message is generated, if the users selection indicates another option. The user account is loaded with the debit transaction. An independent claim is included for an on-board unit for a vehicle.
