1. A computer-implemented method for displaying non-rectangular images in electronic content on an electronic device operating on a programmed computer, the computer-implemented method comprising:
selecting, based on a type of the electronic content and using a template identification computing apparatus, an image shape template for a non-rectangular image that is part of an electronic content to be displayed on the electronic device; determining, using a boundary region determination computing apparatus, a boundary region of the selected image shape template; embedding, using an image placement computing apparatus, the non-rectangular image inside the boundary region of the selected image shape template and on the electronic content; flowing, using a text flow computing apparatus, text that is part of the electronic content outside and along the boundary region of the selected image shape template; and transmitting, using a communication computing apparatus, the electronic content along with the non-rectangular image to the electronic device via a network.
