1. A gastrointestinal implant device comprising:
a planar proximal element configured (i) to reside in an antrum of a stomach to resist distal migration across a pyloric sphincter, and (ii) to permit the stomach to be substantially flat when the stomach is relaxed; a central longitudinal axis of the planar proximal element, perpendicular to a plane in which the planar proximal element lies, being substantially perpendicular to a central longitudinal axis of the pyloric sphincter in normal use of the gastrointestinal implant device; a distal element comprising an anchoring device connected to a thin-walled sleeve, the distal element configured to reside in an intestine to resist proximal migration across the pyloric sphincter; and a tether coupling the planar proximal element to the distal element, the coupling configured to permit rotation of the planar proximal element about the central longitudinal axis of the pyloric sphincter. |
