a volatile memory which stores data; a processor which reads data stored in the volatile memory or writes data in the volatile memory; a network interface which receives data from an external apparatus; and a power control circuit which shifts, based on a lapse of a certain time period in a first power state in which power is supplied to the network interface and the volatile memory and power is not supplied to the processor, the printing apparatus from the first power state to a second power state in which power is supplied to the volatile memory and power is not supplied to the network interface and the processor.
