463,626. Road surface - markings. CRAWFORD, A. E. B. Aug. 2, 1935, No. 21990. [Class 3 (ii)] A road surface-marking comprises a flat or substantially flat metal plate having closely arranged rows of inclined faces formed across or along substantially the whole of its upper surface, the upper edges of the faces being substantially in one plane and the inclination of the faces being such as to enable them to serve as light reflectors. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment in which the marking is visible from one direction only, viz. on approach, the reflecting surfaces A being connected by vertical faces B. In a modification, Fig. 4, reflecting surfaces E, F are provided, extending in opposite directions. These surfaces may be spaced bv flat portions H as shown in Fig. 6. In a further modification, Fig. 9, the surfaces E, F are interrupted to form bevelled reflecting surfaces J. In another arrangement, the plate is formed with pyramidal projections. Individual plates may be shaped as letters or the reflecting surfaces arranged to form letters.
|
