The invention relates to a machine for automatically cutting into slices a loaf of bread (3) or an equivalent foodstuff, comprising a loading compartment (1) and a receiving compartment (4), a cutting device (7) and a supporting surface (2) for the loaf of bread (3) extending into the two compartments. A first slot (5) is provided in the supporting surface (2) between the aforementioned compartments (1, 4), through which said cutting device (7) can move in order to cut slices of bread (3). A guide surface (11) is provided which forms a wall of the loading compartment (1) and extends substantially transversally relative to the supporting surface (2). Said machine is characterised in that it comprises a bearing surface (16) extending into the receiving compartment (4), aligned with the guide surface (2). Said bearing surface is followed by a sliding surface (17) forming a flaring of a receiving compartment (4) which allows the free-fall of a cut slice (15) of the loaf of bread (3). |
