摘要 In the production of a welded connection between material flanks (9) in a joint gap (2) of a metallic workpiece (1) using a welding beam generator, by way of which a welding beam (4) is directed onto the joint gap (2) from a first side of the metallic workpiece (1) in order to realize a complete welded connection of the material flanks (9) over the entire depth of the joint gap (2), and an optical detection device (5), by way of which a surface of the workpiece (1) which is averted from the welding beam generator is imaged from a second side of the workpiece (1) in order to optically identify a weld pool (10) formed during the welding process and evaluate said weld bath by way of an evaluation step, process monitoring of the welding process for quality control purposes is performed in a simple manner by virtue of the fact that, by way of the optical detection device (5) and the evaluation stage, the position of the weld pool (10) and the position of the joint gap (2) are simultaneously determined, and the relative position with respect to one another is provided as a parameter for the follow-up regulation of the positioning of the welding beam (4) relative to the joint gap (2).
