Provided are a device and method for estimating the amount of electric power generated by distributed generators with which it is possible to estimate output in a more accurate and simple manner by accounting for the power factor. A device for estimating the amount of electric power generated by distributed generators whereby the amount of electric power generated by distributed generators connected to an electric power system is estimated from the active electric power and the reactive electric power measured at regular intervals by a measurement means installed in the electric power system, wherein the device for estimating the amount of electric power generated by distributed generators is characterized in being provided with: a power factor estimation means whereby the power factor of the distributed generators connected to the demand side of the electric power system is estimated as the ratio of the temporal changes of the active electric power and the inactive electric power from the measurement points of the measurement means; a means for estimating the amount of electric power generated by the distributed generators whereby a first characteristic line representing the load characteristics on a coordinate plane of active electric power and reactive electric power is made available from the active electric power measured in the absence of the power generators and the reactive electric power measured in the absence of the power generators when the distributed generators connected to the electric power system are not generating electric power, a second characteristic line representing the characteristics of the distributed generators is defined on the coordinate plane from the power factor of the distributed generators and the measured active electric power and reactive electric power, and the difference between the measured active electric power and reactive electric power, and the active electric power and reactive electric power at the intersection between the first characteristic line and the second characteristic line is estimated as the amount of electric power generated by the distributed generators; and an output means for outputting estimation information on the amount of electric power generated by the distributed generators as estimated by the means for estimating the amount of electric power generated by the distributed generators.
