An alarm controller generates an alarm output instruction when an own vehicle state determination unit determines that an own vehicle intends to cross the opposite lane at an intersection, and the object state determination unit determines that an oncoming vehicle or a person exists or moves in a direction in which the own vehicle crosses the opposite lane at into the intersection. A shift position detector detects a shift lever position. When the shift position detector detects that a shift lever is in a parking position or a reverse position, the alarm controller does not generate the alarm output instruction.

1. A driving support device, comprising:
an acquirer configured to acquire object information on at least one of an oncoming vehicle and a person at an intersection; an own vehicle state determiner configured to determine whether an own vehicle intends to cross an opposite lane at the intersection; an object state determiner configured to determine based on the acquired object information whether at least one of an oncoming vehicle and a person exists or moves in a direction in which the own vehicle travels to cross the opposite lane at the intersection; an alarm controller configured to generate an alarm output instruction when the own vehicle state determiner determines that the own vehicle intends to cross the opposite lane at the intersection, and the object state determiner determines that at least one of an oncoming vehicle and a person exists or moves in the direction in which the own vehicle travels to cross the opposite lane at the intersection; and an alarm outputter configured to output an alarm on receipt of the alarm output instruction, the driving support device, further comprising a shift position detector configured to detect a position of a shift lever, wherein when the shift position detector detects that the shift lever is in a parking position or a reverse position, the alarm controller does not generate the alarm output instruction.
