The invention relates to a method for retrofitting a toothed unit (300) on a rear edge (201) of a wind turbine rotor blade (200). A section (220) of the rear edge (201) of the rotor blade (200) is cut away and removed. This can be carried out when the rotor blade (200) is still positioned on a hub of the wind turbine, i.e. in the assembled state. A toothed retrofitting unit (300) is adhered on or into the rear edge (201) of the wind turbine rotor blade (200) in the cut-out and removed section (220). The toothed retrofitting unit (300) has a V-shaped profile and two securing arms (311, 312) on its first side and a plurality of teeth (321) on an opposing side. The two securing arms (311, 312) are adhered to the rear edge (201) of the rotor blade (200), in order to mount the toothed retrofitting unit (300).
