-26 Abstract In an aspect there is disclosed, an apparatus (10) for holding a fishing rod (12) relative to a substantially horizontal bar (13) of a vehicle (16), the apparatus (10) including a holder (18) into which a butt (15) of the fishing rod (12) is receivable, a coupling (20) arranged to fixedly couple with the bar (13) in a fitted condition and a linkage (22) between the holder (18) and the coupling (20). The linkage (22) may be pivotally coupled to the coupling (20) at a horizontal pivot point (51) supported by the coupling (20), the horizontal pivot point (51) being located laterally rearward of the bar (13) toward the vehicle (16) in the fitted condition such that the holder (18) is moveable relative to the coupling (20) about the pivot point (51) between a first position, in which the holder (18) is located on a substantially forward side of the bar (13) away from the vehicle (16) and is in a first orientation such that the fishing rod (12) extends in a forward direction relative to the bar (13) away from the vehicle (16), and a second position in which the holder (18) is located on a substantially rearward side of the bar (13) toward the vehicle (16) and is in a second orientation such that the fishing rod (12) extends in an opposing rearward direction over the vehicle (16).
