The present invention provides a pneumatic tire that can substantially improve wet performance. The pneumatic tire is provided with a tread rubber that includes a tread-surface rubber layer that is located at the outermost surface of a tread and with a tread-interior rubber layer that is located to the inside of the tread-surface rubber layer in the radial direction of the tire. The pneumatic tire is characterized in that the 100% modulus of the tread-surface rubber layer is larger than the 100% modulus of the tread-interior rubber layer and in that the tread-surface rubber layer is formed from a rubber composition that includes: a rubber component (A) that contains 50 mass% or more of a diene rubber; and, per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component (A), 5-50 parts by mass of at least one type of additive component (B) selected from among thermoplastic resins, oils, and aromatic vinyl compound-conjugated diene compound copolymers that have a weight average molecular weight, in terms of polystyrene, of 5,000-200,000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography. |
