The invention relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and concerns the use of polyprenols of formula (1) to produce a drug, as well as the drug itself and a pharmaceutical composition containing compound (1) for the treatment and prophylaxis of demyelinating diseases of the human body. The invention also relates to methods for the treatment and prophylaxis of demyelinating diseases of the human body, in which an effective amount of polyprenols of formula (1) is introduced into a living organism. The invention makes it possible to minimize side effects when using a drug and a pharmaceutical composition of plant origin, which contain a compound of formula (1), in a method for the treatment and prophylaxis of demyelinating diseases of the human body.
