A perfume composition comprising perfume ingredients selected from GROUP 2, GROUP 3, GROUP 4 and GROUP 5 ingredients, wherein: GROUP 2 ingredients are characterized by a standard equilibrium headspace concentration and an odour detection threshold such that in a plot of log HSi0 vs. log ODTi, the ingredients lie on or below a distance perception boundary line characterized by the coordinates A=[log(ODTa); log(HSa)]=[−3; 6] andB=[log(ODTb); log(HSb)]=[1; 0] GROUP 3 ingredients are crystalline materials at 20° C., and are selected from GROUP 1 ingredients that are characterized by a standard equilibrium headspace concentration and an odour detection threshold such that in a plot of log HSi0 vs. log ODTi, the ingredients lie on or below a distance perception boundary line characterized by a coordinate A=[log(ODTa); log(HSa)]=[−3; 6] andB=[log(ODTb); log(HSb)]=[2; 1] wherein ODTi is the odour detection threshold of a perfume ingredient i, measured in nanograms/litre; and HSi is the equilibrium headspace concentration of ingredient i, measured in micrograms/litre; and wherein the log refers to the decimal logarithm; GROUP 4 ingredients are selected from GROUP 2 ingredients, but are characterized in that they are not crystalline materials at 20° C.; and GROUP 5 ingredients are selected from GROUP 2 ingredients, but are characterized in that they are crystalline at 20° C.; and wherein the perfume composition is further characterized in that it contains two or more perfume ingredients selected from GROUP 2, GROUP 3, GROUP 4 and GROUP 5 ingredients, such that: the sum of the concentrations of the perfume ingredients selected from GROUP 2 is at least 10 wt %; AND the sum of the concentrations of perfume ingredients selected from GROUP 3, GROUP 4 and GROUP 5, each perfume ingredient counted only once in the sum, is at least 5 wt %; AND/OR the sum of the concentrations of perfume ingredients selected from GROUP 5 is at least 0.1 wt %.
