A storage battery device of an embodiment has battery cells connected in series, wherein a bypass circuit is connected in parallel with each of the battery cells, said bypass circuit being provided with a diode connected in the reverse direction with respect to the corresponding battery cell and a current limiting element connected in series with the diode. Therefore, in the storage battery device and a storage battery system, excessive reverse charging can be prevented even if secondary batteries are discharged due to, for example, an external short circuit while there is variation in the charged states of the secondary batteries connected in series. |
