[Class 144 (i).] In a machine for making tyre casings of the kind in which a strip of cord &c. material is wound obliquely about a pair of spaced bead wires, the winding is effected by a separate electric motor which moves, with the material, in an ovate path around the travelling bead wires. The traverse of the wires may be effected by electrically-operated or other means, and is synchronized with the fabricwrapping device. In the apparatus shown, the bead wires 3 are mounted on two sets of rollers 4, 5, the rollers 4 being driven from an electric motor 13, and the rollers 5 being adjustable, for tensioning the wires, by means of a pressure-fluid cylinder 17. The fabric-supply spool 41 is carried on an arm 27 projecting from a plate 26 which is fitted with rollers 25 engaging rails 23, 24 on a fixed frame 20. The plate 26 also carries an electric motor 30 the spindle of which is geared to engage a rack on the frame 20. The latter is provided with' a removable segment to permit assemblage and withdrawal of the work. |
