A handle assembly for a vacuum cleaner comprising a handle attached to a duct assembly. The duct assembly comprises a first duct 12 and a second duct 13, and the first duct 12 pivots relative to the second duct 13 about a pivot axis (15, fig 3). The first duct 12 and the second duct 13 each comprise an arcuate section 21, 31 that arcs about the pivot axis (15, fig 3), and pivoting the first duct 12 relative to the second duct 13 causes the arcuate section 21 of one of the ducts 12 to move in and out of the arcuate section 31 of the other of the ducts 13. Preferably the second duct 13 is a double walled duct comprising and inner tube 28 and an outer tube 29 and pivoting the first duct 12 relative to the second duct 13 causes the first duct 12 to move between the inner and outer tubes 28, 29. |
