A framework 200a,200b is disclosed for holding magnets 130 (fig 3) to form a stator 300 comprising a tubular magnet array which is removably slid into housing 420. The framework provides a central aperture for receiving a rotor armature of said electric motor and is formed of two mating halves, snap fittings 211,212 securing the halves together. The magnet receiving appeartures120 (bays) are tapered radially inwards so as to prevent the magnets passing though the apertures and the magnets are curved and have a complimentary taper to that of the apertures. The framework construction is elastically deformable. Electrical terminals are mounted at 114a,114b to provide power to the brush system. Grooves 113 accommodate bolts 401 (fig 4) securing motor parts together. Also described is a two part brush housing 510,520 comprising a plurality of passages for slidably retaining brushes 550 and a plurality of bias housings 540 each of which receives a conical spring560 which is inserted in compressed state into the bias housing via slot 541. The brush housing 500 mounts to the end of the framework and grooves 502 accommodate the bolts 401. The framework and the brush housing are of polymeric material. |
