The electromagnetic effect material according to the present invention is formed by an oxide ceramic comprising a polycrystal containing at least Sr, Co, and Fe as main components. The c-axis of the crystal axes of the oxide ceramic is oriented in a predetermined direction. The degree of orientation of the c-axis is preferably at least 0.2 by the Lotgering method. A component element (1) is formed from this electromagnetic effect material. This configuration makes it possible to realize an electromagnetic effect material capable of realizing satisfactory ferromagnetic dielectric characteristics by magnetic field application or electric field application in the range of temperatures in which use of electronic devices is normally allowed, and to realize a ceramic electronic component such as a variable inductor or nonvolatile memory that uses the electromagnetic effect material. |
