A method comprises the steps of providing a tool 10, the tool 10 having at least one propellant source 12; pressurising the tool 10 to a pressure higher than the environmental pressure; igniting at least one of the propellant source(s) 12 to form a combustion zone 20; and directing combustion products 28 generated at the combustion zone 20 along at least one tool flow path 30. The tool flow path(s) 30 may be selectively openable or closable, such that upon exiting the tool flow path(s) the combustion products 28 interact with a target, such as a casing 14, the interaction causing material to be removed from the target 14. Additives may be added to the combustion products and a sacrificial portion may be provided which supplies particles to the combustion products as it is eroded. |
