PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device in which a toner image is fixed on a recording medium between a fixing roller and a pressure roller, the recording medium is separated by a separation claw in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller, and when fixing process of the toner image on the recording medium is not being performed, the separation claw is separated from the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller to easily prevent the wear of the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller and the surface of the separation claw.SOLUTION: In a fixing device 30, the toner image is fixed on a recording medium S between a fixing roller 31 and a pressure roller 32, and the recording medium S is separated from the fixing roller 31 by a separation claw 34 in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller 31. The fixing device 30 comprises: a first rotary gear 41 rotating synchronously with the fixing roller 31; a second rotary gear 42 moving in the circumferential direction of the fixing roller 31 in accordance with the rotation of the first rotary gear 41; and separation claw control means 50 for controlling the separation claw 34 to contact with and separate from the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller 31 in accordance with the movement of the second rotary gear 42. |
