PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide member, which is freed from deterioration of sliding characteristics over a long term after the vanishment of a periodic structure, and to provide a manufacturing method capable of manufacturing such the slide member.SOLUTION: A slide member-manufacturing method comprises a film forming step and a wearing step. The film forming step forms an amorphous carbon film having such a grating-shaped irregular periodic structure on a slide face of a first member as is continuously varied in height where convex top parts have non-flat surfaces. The wearing step slides the sliding face of the first member relative to a siding face of a second member, thereby to wear the periodic structure as a sacrifice layer. |
