The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a liquid crystal composition that does not cause deterioration of dielectric anisotropy, viscoscity, nematic phase upper limit temperature, nematic phase stability at low temperatures, characteristics such as the γ1 of a liquid crystal display element, or display element burn-in characteristics, that is unlikely to cause drip marks during production, and that is suitable for a liquid crystal element that achieves a stable liquid crystal material discharge rate in an ODF process; and a liquid crystal display element using the liquid crystal composition. Provided are: a liquid crystal composition comprising 20-50 mass% of a compound that is represented by formula (I), 5-50 mass% of a compound that is represented by general formula (II), and at least one compound that is represented by general formula (III); and a liquid crystal display element using the liquid crystal composition. |
