The present invention refers to the attainment of a natural caffeine derivative, never yet identified, 3,5-dicaffeoyl-4-malonylquinic acid, its use in human and veterinary therapy and for nutritional, cosmetic and pharmaceutical purposes. Said compound may be produced, in industrial quantities, from "undifferentiated" cell cultures of Centella asiatica obtained by fermentation. The present invention also concerns the preparation and use of said compound for the production of drugs or nutritional substances or cosmetics, said extracts having manifold pharmacological properties.
