CARTON, CARTON BLANK AND METHOD OF ERECTING AND FILLING A CARTON

A carton has a base, side walls 22, a front wall 18, a rear wall and an upper end closure 26. An opening in the front wall and rear wall are each selectively covered by a flap 28. The carton is ideally formed from a single blank and can be filled via the end closure after erection. The front and rear walls can have fixed portions overlapping the flaps. The flaps may interact with the fixed portions via stops 96 to limit their opening and slot 78 and tab 82 to secure them closed. The end closure can be formed by large flaps extending from the side walls sanwiching small tabs extending from the fixed portions of the front and rear walls. A handle 131 could extend up from the top wall. The hinged portion of the front and rear walls could be hingedly attached to the front and rear edges of the base. One of the sides is preferably a single panel while the other side can be formed by joining a panel extending from the base and another from the top closure.
