A receiver is configured to receive input of authentication information of a user. A communicator is configured to perform communication with a server that performs user authentication. An image processor has at least one image processing function. A memory stores authentication information of the user and stores instructions. A processor performs: a selection process of selecting which of the server and the image processing apparatus itself performs the user authentication, based on the authentication information received by the receiver; an authentication process of causing an apparatus selected in the selection process to perform the user authentication based on the authentication information received by the receiver; and a permission process of permitting the image processor to perform image processing if the user authentication by the authentication process succeeds and prohibiting the image processor from performing image processing if the user authentication by the authentication process fails. |
