摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multistage vertical type automatic transmission having a novel engagement structure between rotation elements, the engagement structure having a more simple construction of an oil-pressure-supply oil passage for each clutch and being capable of downsizing of the automatic transmission.SOLUTION: A vertical type automatic transmission 10 includes an input shaft 12, an output shaft 13, single pinion type first, second, third, and fourth gear sets PG1-PG4, first, second, and third clutches CL1-CL3, and first and second brakes BR1, BR2. The first and second gear sets are located nearer to one end in the axial direction than the third and fourth gear sets. An end, in the other end side in the axial direction, of an outer common rotation member 14 commonly used by the first, second, and third clutches is always engaged with a third sun gear. Each inner rotation member is always engaged with any one of rotation elements of the first and second gear sets. A fourth carrier and the output shaft are engaged with each other via a power transmission member 18 passing between a pair of fourth sun gears S4a, S4b separated into halves in the axial direction.
