PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar-code symbol reader which enables easy acquisition of a result of reading a plurality of bar-code symbols, and a reading method.SOLUTION: A bar-code symbol reader includes: a read unit 3 which images image data of a plurality of bar-code symbols at once; a binary conversion unit 4 of image data; a bar-code symbol area candidate extraction unit 5 which extracts a bar-code symbol area candidate by expanding, contracting and labeling binary data; a bar-code symbol data decoding unit 6 which determines the type of the bar-code symbols and decodes a data word in all the bar-code symbol area candidates; a bar-code symbol data arrangement unit 7 which organizes the order of outputting data of the bar-code symbols, on the basis of all the bar-code symbol type information and decoding results; a bar-code symbol data connection unit 8 which outputs all the bar-code symbol data connected to each other as one piece of data; and a control unit 9 which holds the bar-code symbol type information and the decoding result. |
