Method for determining buffer capacity of a packet network comprising at least one network node, said packet network having an ingress interface and an egress interface, wherein measuring at the egress interface of the packet network, egress times at which a plurality of packets coming from the ingress interface are received at the egress interface; determining an average transmission delay of the plurality of packets from the ingress interface to the egress interface; determining an average egress rate of the plurality of packets based on the egress times; and calculating an equivalent buffer capacity of the network resources using the average egress rate and average transmission delay. |
