A benzopyran derivative represented by general formula [1], or a salt thereof, is useful in therapeutic or preventive treatment of disease, wherein said therapeutic or preventive treatment is effective because said benzopyran derivative, or salt thereof, binds to MIF, has an MIF inhibitory effect, and inhibits MIF.
