PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge position control device and a control method, capable of preventing welding bead recess which may occur at the time of manufacturing a spiral steel pipe.SOLUTION: In a spiral steel pipe edge position control device, a steel band rewound from an uncoiler sequentially arranges a bender, a leveler, a bevel shaping part, and a pinch roll, on a pass line supplied to a welding step for a spiral steel pipe manufacturing device. A frame on which the uncoiler is mounted is allowed to move freely in the direction orthogonal to the pass line. A steel band edge position detecting mechanism is provided on the pass line. A signal outputted from the detecting mechanism is inputted in a control device for a moving mechanism of the frame on which the uncoiler is mounted. |
