PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device enabling a work such as data input to an information apparatus to be performed without the use of hands being used during a production work both in a sitting position and a standing position, and capable of being stably operated by feet.SOLUTION: The pointing device comprises 1) a transparent plate 4, 2) distance measurement means 5 disposed at a back surface of the plate 4 for measuring a distance to an object in front of the plate 4, 3) determination means that determines an object as a target object if a distance between the object and the plate 4 is a predetermined threshold value or less, 4) position determination means that determines a position of the target object from an area in which the target object has been detected, and 5) command means that derives a pointing command from the position of the target object.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
