PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid disturbance to an AC system by charging a DC line by using energy stored in multistage-connected chopper circuits and to achieve high-speed restart of a power conversion device.SOLUTION: A power converter 10 is configured by series connection of chopper circuits 11 each composed of a capacitor 13 and a switching element 12. A sensor 9 for detecting a current of the power converter 10 is attached to the power converter 10. An AC circuit breaker 3 is connected between an AC system 4 and the power converter 10. The capacitor 13 of each chopper circuit 11 increases a voltage of a DC line 5 by passing energy stored in the capacitor 13 of the chopper circuit 11 to electrostatic capacity of the DC line 5 with the AC circuit breaker being open. |
