PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolator which can exhibit desired seismic isolation performance by a simple structure, and does not make a person feel discomfort as much as possible.SOLUTION: In place of conventional seismic isolators, a seismic isolator of the present invention comprises a seismic isolation system which supports a seismic isolation building and generates a horizontal reaction according to the relative horizontal displacement of a seismic isolation floor, and a damper system which generates a horizontal force according to the relative horizontal displacement of the seismic isolation floor. The damper system has an inertia connecting element and a buffer material, a mass damper with a spring being a system in which the inertia connecting element and the buffer material are connected to each other in series is connected between the seismic isolation floor and a foundation, a damper fundamental circular frequency ratio &bgr;(ωd/ω0) does not exceed the maximum limit value, ω0 is a primary fundamental circular frequency of a vibration system which is constituted of the seismic isolation building and a seismic isolation system spring, and ωd is a primary fundamental circular frequency of the damper system alone. |
