The invention concerns a method for producing pre-melted calcium aluminate suitable for steel manufacturing, said method comprising the steps of: -heating a mixture of black dross comprising 20 wt% or more of one or more chloride salts,and CaO and/or a precursor thereof, in an oxidative atmosphere, thereby forming volatile components and melted material; -removing the volatile components, and -cooling the melted material thereby forming pre-melted calcium aluminate. The pre-melted calcium aluminate produced in the method may be used as a desulphurizing agent, slag forming agent and/or slag in a steel manufacturing process. |
